On 29 November 2024, the partners of the EUTELL Erasmus Mundus Joint Master gathered at Universitat Jaume I (Castelló, Spain) for the project’s kick-off meeting. This was the first in-person opportunity to bring together academic coordinators and administrative staff from across the consortium to define the roadmap of the programme, set working methods, and discuss the design of the future Master’s degree.

The meeting opened with a welcome address from the Vice-Rector for Internationalisation and introductory remarks from the Dean, who highlighted the consortium’s shared vision for the EUTELL Erasmus Mundus Master.

The meeting featured a keynote presentation by Raúl Martín, coordinator of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master in Robotics (Toulon, Lisbon, Bremen). His talk provided a success story and best practices for EUTELL:

The working sessions that followed focused on the procedures and requirements of the EMJM 2025 call. The consortium also set out a working calendar for the months ahead. Regular online meetings will be held at the end of each month, with the next one scheduled for 10 January 2025. Over the coming months, partners will carry out a needs analysis, establish working groups, and begin designing the curriculum. The aim is to finalise the first version of the Master’s structure by June 2025.
In the afternoon, attention turned to the academic and structural design of the Master’s programme. Discussions included joint admission policies and criteria, student distribution across partner universities, the type of diploma to be awarded, and the role of mobility as a central element. While different institutional structures pose challenges, the partners reached a consensus on creating a flexible but coherent framework.
Looking ahead, the consortium will meet again in Budapest in June 2025, in Rome in October 2025, and later in Tallinn or Tbilisi in early 2026.

This first meeting marked an important step for the EUTELL project, bringing partners together to launch a joint effort that will offer students from around the world the chance to study European identity and culture through English in a truly international setting.
